Ceuta, Autonomous State of Spain, October 19th

What a gorgeous day. I awoke at 7 am. and made my way to breakfast, where I was treated to the most magnificent sunrise over the Strait of Gibraltar.

Sunrise as another cruise ship pulls into the terminal.

Ceuta is an autonomous city of Spain in Northern Africa.

In Ceuta, there is not much to see beyond a main street and heading up to high points on either side of the state. I chose the smaller of the two but was still rewarded with phenomenal views of the city.

View of the city from the fort.

Other than the hill, there is a small mountain on the opposite side that can be climbed, but I didn’t choose to do that.

I walked along the promenade to get to the hill and there were many statues, fountains and tile works along the walk.

So many sculptures along the promenade.

On the way back down I came across a soccer/football match at the university and a small church, Senora de Valle.

On the walk back I went into the center of town and there were many shops. There was also one square, Plaza de los Reyos, that held several interesting buildings.

Dude- your hat… it’s uhm great. Inglesa de San Fransisco.

After the walk-about, I returned to the ship and had dinner at our Thistle dining room.

Caprese salad was delicious.
The main course of couscous stuffed pepper with asparagus and grilled halloumi.
