Cathedral Quarter’s Two Sides of Belfast

St. Anne’s Cathedral

This neighborhood is named for this building. It is a Church of Ireland Cathedral and costs 3 pounds for a self guided tour. You can rent an audio or take a guide for 7 pounds. There is also a small gift shop on the premises.

Pillars on the exterior of the Cathedral

In the center of the cathedral lies the Spire of Hope, which looks like a giant needle sticking out the top. On the side of the cathedral, there is also a giant celtic cross. The largest one in Ireland.

St. Patrick’s Church

Just down the road from St. Annes is the Catholic Church. The outside is a little more run down with veggitation growing from the wall cracks, but inside is a beautiful place of worship.

Carlisle Memorial Church

On the same road is this Memorial Church. There is work being done on the exterior, so the bottom is boarded off. It is no longer a functioning place of worship but transformed into a Belfast memorial site.

The Other Side of the Coin: Art Festival & Bars

Cathedral quarter is also home to an art festival, and many of the buildings, shops, and structures have murals painted on them.

Beyond the art scene, the Cathedral Quater is also home to many of the bars and hot night spots for the city. Head out at night, and the streets are crowded, and the wet bars are hoping.

Chicken shop above the Dirty Onion – good chicken but a little pricey.

For spirits to drink or to be spiritual,  Cathedral Quarter has a lot going on.

Oldest pub in Belfast- but to be honest there were a couple proclaiming the same thing.
