Luss
My first stop on a 5-day tour of the highlands of Scotland was Luss. Here I got a look at my first loch. Of course, there are many of them, think hundreds, so it wouldn’t be the last.

Rest and be Thankful
The second stop is in the middle of nowhere. Rest And Be Thankful, Arrochar – Hills & Mountains | VisitScotland
It is the end of a military road completed in the 1700’s and all the men were thankful it was done.

Inveraray
For a lunch break the bus stayed in Inveraray for 90 minutes. There is also a castle straight out of a fairy tale here.

The castle is a 5 minute walk from the town and costs 11 pounds if you want to enter. The town itself has one main street with a few restaurants, gift shops and a pharmacy.
Kilmartin
I had just messaged my friend back in Canada to see if she knew where the Martins in Scotland were from (her last name is Martin), and our next stop was Kilmartin, which means Martin’s Church.

Oban
Our resting spot for the night is the quaint town of Oban. Here there was also live music and dancing at The View. It started at 8 o’clock and cost 10 pounds if the ticket was bought in advance and 20 at the door. I do know that several people went early for dinner, and nobody checked for tickets, so they attended for free.
There were a few short performances by a young woman, but it was more teaching audience participants different traditional dances. It was a lot of fun and tiring.
