Puerto Natales 🇵🇷

Puerto Natales is a small town in Chile that became famous when the fossilized remains of a prehistoric sloth, Milodon, was discovered in 1895. It is better known now as the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park, but the town embraces both in its decor and souvenirs.

Statue at main roundabout into town

About 18,500 people live in the small tourist town. The main area is only a few blocks large, but there is quite a bit packed in there.

Protest of some sort

Selk’nam peoples – Ona or Onawo
History of man in the region. Aonikenk tribe.
I couldn’t resist some socks
Lunch at the Veat – vegan thai curry was amazing
Night view from my room
Skate park was busy on Sunday night. Nothing else was open.

The airport is a 10-minute ride from town for 8,000 pesos. It is tiny. I love that they assign you gate number 1. There is only 1 gate.
