Everybody Knows…

Over the past few days, the news has been filled with Life at Seas and Miray Cruises canceling the cruise. Three-year cruise people sold homes to go on is canceled weeks before departure (msn.com) and https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/travel/video/3-year-cruise-abruptly-canceled-105160805 are examples of this. There have been articles in People, Travel and Leisure, the New York Times, and ABC have all run stories.

Let me tell you, the news outlets want more. There have been requests from several reporters looking to talk to anyone about their experience. I don’t know what they expect to hear but more people verifing that yes they are sad and lost and want their money back.

Our social media platforms are no less popular. Facebook groups, WhatsApp, and Circle groups for residents are better than reality TV. People are going out of their way to complain, talk to reporters, and hear themselves talk. I’ve been sitting back and silently stalking the conversations.

My current plan since the news broke is a plan to go to South America in January for a month, but what else? I still don’t know.

Today was the webinar for Ville Vie’s around-the-world cruise. The sad news is that there is no boat yet. They should have a purchase agreement by December 7th, but will not complete it until February. However, they state that they have enough money to purchase the boat already.

The lack of a boat concerns me because it is what Miray said too. I want them to make a go of it so that I can join. I guess I need to talk with someone at the company to see what I would have to invest and when. I’ve heard that it is only 5% down for us Life at Seas people. That wouldn’t be too bad.

Miray is also not as dead in the waters as one might assume. They have let residents on circle know that;

While I don’t see trying them again for the actual cruise, this makes me feel positive that I’ll see my refund in whole since they want the good press.

What am I going to do between the trip and an actual around-the-world trip is still undecided. I need to figure out if Ville Vie is viable and with a May departure that means I have 4 months to fill with either remote work or something temporary in Canada.
