Chasing Summer –

On Sunday, the circle group received a bit of an update from Vedat and Miray Cruises which non-answers questions. Monday, November 20th, is when I was scheduled to fly out to join the boat, sigh.

So they are still trying to get a ship? And refund us all our money? I noticed that there is no information regarding transferring our money to the other company HLC that Kendra mentioned. Why wouldn’t they start the cruise on the smaller boat? At this point, people would be thrilled with any trip and we haven’t reached capacity by any means. That would give them time to find a new bigger boat. There must be more going on that I am not privy to.

Later that same day a comment was made in the chats that the group currently in Istanbul was told by Kendra that HLC has decided against chartering a boat for those choosing to go in but that they have a sail date planned for March. It is rumored that she is contacting everyone individually with the news. I guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens. Many residents have also begun a WhatsApp group to discuss possible legal action.

Today, I began looking at teaching jobs, just to see what is out there. I have some possibilities. I can self-travel for a bit- maybe head down and do Antarctica on my own, get a junk job until March if either of the 2 other companies actually manages to get themselves ready to sail by then, or go back to teaching somewhere else in the world.

For now, I’ll keep taking deep breaths and enjoy my walks here where when everyone else is throwing up Christmas decorations on their houses and lawns a few souls are still embracing their Halloween decorations. It does resemble A Nightmare Before Christmas around here. It’s out to dinner for my sister-in-law, Allison’s b-day tonight.
